When I first came online, I went down many different avenues. I tried making money apps, surveys, business courses that promised me that I would be a millionaire overnight and an array of extra income opportunities.
Ultimately none of them helped me achieve the financial freedom I was after. What they did help me do was empty my pockets fast.
Now, if I could go back, I would just go straight to the business model and opportunity I am using now to make money. However, that is in the past, but what I can do is teach you about the platform I use to make money every month.

My Back Story
Now, as you can tell by the title Wealthy Affiliate as become a game-changer for me, as before I came across them, I was lost and had no clue what I was looking for.
I came across the platform when I was only 16, and it was during a time where my focus was to find a way online to make money.
I was currently working a part-time job, which was cleaning other houses, but to be honest, I hated it.
The person I worked for at the time was essentially taking the mickey out of me.
When it came to getting paid, I felt like I was being underpaid.
That was the last person I worked for but not the first person to walk all over me.
So I decided I would try and take fate into my own eyes and see what else there was out there.
The first thing I did like I am sure many people do is searched for ‘how to make money online.’
Initially, I was overwhelmed, but I did try out a few opportunities.
The first one was as I mentioned earlier, which was surveys.
They were good at the start as for the first time, and I felt like I was in control of what I was earning, and it was cool to see the payouts come in.
But it was only a little amount of money and not enough to live on. So I kept on searching.
I then discovered other types of getting paid to opportunities that like surveys paid me okay but still wasn’t enough or what I was searching for.
I also then stupidly fell for a few get rich quick schemes that at the time looked like my gateway to an easy life, but as you can imagine, never worked for me.
This was when I came across Wealthy Affiliate.
I still remember when I first joined, I made an account and then didn’t touch it for a few weeks.
This was because, in order to get access to all the training, I had to pay money, and because of some of my experiences with other programs up to then, I was hesitant to go for it.
So I was skeptical.
After a few weeks are continuing to look elsewhere, I decided to give Wealthy Affiliate a shot.
While I was initially put off by the fact that the owners said on many occasions that it wasn’t a get rich scheme, I went forward cracked on with the training.
So while at the start, I thought I needed short-term money, and I realized that this was more of a long-term opportunity.
Fast forward to today, and I have made a number of websites online, all of which have generated some kind of income, which shows that what they teach works.
So I skipped university which was once a possible option and set my sights on growing my online businesses.
What Is Wealthy Affiliate?
So Wealthy Affiliate is a platform that gives you all the fundamentals for starting your own online business from scratch.
By following the training and making use of the features, they show you step by step how to turn a new website into an established one.
They were started up by two entrepreneurs who go by Kyle and Carson.
Who decided to create a platform and a community to help people new online make money and create something for themselves.
Its been 15 years since the platform made its mark on the online space.
Over time they have gone through numerous updates to keep what there teaching fresh and current with the times.
How Wealthy Affiliate Works?
As soon as you join Wealthy Affiliate, you are presented with training to get you underway with the process of creating your own business.
Now the training that is on offer will take you through step by step on how the process works.
But so you know what to expect, I am going to take you through the four steps from starting a website to then bringing in money with your new site.
Choosing An Interest/Passion
As you have probably gathered at this time, you will be creating your website.
Now you can’t just make a site like that. You need some direction, so your first job will be to choose a niche for your site.
This niche will be an interest of yours or something you would be keen on learning more about.
It doesn’t matter what you choose as it can be anything you want, as, at the end of the day, over 4 billion users are using the internet. So finding a niche with potential isn’t that hard.
An idea may not come to your head straight away, but by going through the Wealthy Affiliate training, it will help you choose something to go with.
Website Building
That is something that I initially when I started thought would be complicated, but in fact, it’s straightforward.
Once you have the interest written down and have a chosen domain, the next step is to build the site.
The amount it costs to set up a website is peanuts coming in at around $10.
The website set up is taken care of you, so you don’t need to be some developer or have certain skills to get started.
Gain Traffic
That is the heartbeat of a website, without traffic or, in other words, people going on your site, you won’t make much money.
That is where WA comes in handy as they teach you the ins and outs of how to acquire traffic.
The best part is that unlike other training out there from gurus who require you to use paid traffic, that WA shows you how to do this for free.
The fact that you are here is likely because you came from Google, so that alone shows you it works.
Earn Revenue
The final thing for you to do with a website generating traffic is to optimize it to earn revenue.
There are many ways to make money with a site, you can sign up to an ad revenue company like Google Adsense, or you could do some advertised posts.
But at Wealthy Affiliate, they teach you how to earn money using the affiliate marketing business model.
That is where you promote products within your niche to people who are looking for those items.
You give people value and provide solutions for them, and in return, you will earn money with your site, it’s as simple as that.

What Do They Have To Offer
Weekly Live Training
One of the main features of WA is the weekly live training.
That has been ever-present over the years with a webinar hosted by an internet marketing expert each week.
These last between 1 and 2 hours each and cover an array of different topics.
Essentially it’s an add on from the training they offer to cover more topics about marketing or to go over anything that is trending.
Although these are live, you can catch them after each one is recorded.
So if you are a new member, you will be able to go back and watch all of the previously recorded webinars, which is pretty handy.
Certification Courses
Certification courses are a series of training that teaches you all the steps required for making a niche website.
These are covered by owner Kyle who goes in-depth both through videos and through text.
So if your a visual person who wants to watch things being done in action, then the videos will be handy; however, if you’re on the go, you can read through the text that comes with each lesson.
At each lesson, you are given actionable steps to put into your own business. That is so that you can put it into action for everything you learn about.
Bootcamp Courses
That is similar to the certification course but adapted for those who want to promote Wealthy Affiliate.
To clarify and because I do get the odd question come my way, Wealthy Affiliate isn’t a pyramid scheme or a scam as you aren’t required to promote them to make money.
However, there is training that is made for those who want to build a site around promoting and making money with the Wealthy Affiliate referral system.
Jaaxy
Jaaxy is a tool that helps you with choosing keywords to use on your website, which will, in turn, help you attract visitors to your site.
For me, it’s up there as one of the better keyword tools I have used.
That isn’t because I’m biased, but there simply aren’t many ‘accurate’ keyword tools out there.
And when I say accurate, I am talking about having the data that will help you rank well for a term.
Now, something like Google’s keyword planner gives you the data, however finding data like how much competition a keyword as or how many searches its getting is quite broad.
That is a tool though that is integrated into Wealthy Affiliate, and as a member, you get to take advantage of the tool.
Classrooms and Personal Mentors
These two are relatively important to the success of any aspiring entrepreneur.
First of you have the classrooms which are where you can ask any question or query and get help from someone with marketing experience.
Early on, I do remember I did rely on this feature too much and asked a number of questions.
Which is completely fine, by the way, as that is how you will get the answers to grow.
But with the classrooms, you can ask questions on different topics and get answers from people who excel within that field.
The other feature is having a personal mentor.
Everyone at WA has one, and if you join yourself, you will have someone that you can message at any time to help you alongside your journey.
If that isn’t enough, the owners in Kyle and Carson have member accounts on the platform.
So you can message them like you would anybody else and get first-hand help from the people who made the platform and training.
Active Community
Another reason to join is if you want to be a part of an engaging platform with like-minded individuals all striving to complete their online goals, then that is something present at WA.
There are over 1.5 million users registered at Wealthy Affiliate.
So with so many people joined on, there is an opportunity to connect with lots of people and get the support you need as you build your business.

Reasons On Why You Should Join
I want to keep this review balanced, so while I have had a great experience with Wealthy Affiliate, I want to share reasons for you to join and for you not to join. First, though let’s go over the main reasons why joining WA is a good idea.
To Escape A Job, You Hate
This is one of the most common reasons for people to start businesses in general.
Because they want to make money and either want to stop working for someone else or hate their job.
No one wants to work a job they don’t like and then feel like, for the next 50+ years, they are trapped.
I remember when I had a regular 9 to 5 job, and I hated every second of it. The only positive thought was that there was a paycheck at the end of it.
Even then if I wanted to then earn more money, I would have to keep on making money I would have to put another month of work in and then another month.
There is never an end to it.
So if you work a job you don’t like, then that is a reason to join Wealthy Affiliate as you have the opportunity to finally create something for yourself.
Learn More About A Niche
If you have an interest or passion you would like to explore and turn into a business, then by creating a business around, it then allows you to learn more about it.
By starting a website along the process, you will learn more about the niche through content production.
You will be doing research about areas of that niche and then be creating your own.
So, in the end, you will have built an established authority website within that niche, and you at the forefront will know it inside out.
Achieve Financial Freedom
Most of us have money goals we want to achieve, and there aren’t many better ways to earn money you dream of then building your own business.
Now, if you want to travel places, spend more time with loved ones, and almost just have the time to do whatever you like whenever you like, you will need financial freedom.
It’s easy to say that and harder to do, but with an online business, it’s more than possible to make enough money each month to live a lifestyle you desire.
Let’s say you need $2000 a month to pay rent and your working full time if you build a business to a point where it’s generating $3000 a month; you have enough to survive, spare time plus an extra $1000 in your pocket.
I know it’s easy for me to say that, but there are so many people making it possible with there websites, so there is no reason you can’t achieve that yourself.

Has I touched earlier, there isn’t a particular demographic that Wealthy Affiliate fits. This means that no matter if you are a beginner or someone with experience WA, could be for you.
It also doesn’t matter how old you are; I always see people asking whether people who have retired from there job ask if they can do online business.
The answer to that question is yes; anyone can start an online business regardless of how you are.
I would say I am a good example of how you can never be too young to learn, as I started blogging as a teenager when I was 16.
Swap Active Income For Passive Income
When you work a regular job, whether that be a standard 9 to 5, no matter how good it or how established you are in that job, your earnings are capped.
That is called active income. So, e.g., let’s say you are a doctor, which is one of the best paying jobs you can get you are looking at an average of £89,000 a year.
For many, that is a great income.
However, it is capped still, which means you won’t be able to make any more than that.
Not only that, but because of its active income, you will then need to continue to work to get paid.
That might sound like a given, but with an online business, there are no limits to how much money you can make and not only that you can earn passive income.
That is setting up income streams that can bring you money without having to work.

Times are definitely changing, and with there being more potential online then there ever has been, it makes making that switch online a smart move.

Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Join
Not A Cash Grab
That is an expectation that I had early on, I initially thought I would start a website, slap on a few ads, and be making a few dollars in a few days.
I kept asking myself early on when am I going to start seeing money; however, it never came, mainly cause I was so desperate to make money.
I had the wrong mindset.
So if you are someone who is looking for a quick cash grab and becoming a millionaire overnight, then your probably wasting your time reading this post as Wealthy Affiliate isn’t for you.
However, if you are someone who wants to work towards building the foundation of an online business that will pay dividends in time, then this is something I couldn’t recommend too you more.
Aren’t Willing To Persist.
I am going to be transparent with you; people do join Wealthy Affiliate and fail. Do you want to know why?
It’s not Wealthy Affiliates fault, and I will explain why.
When they join, many people become invested in money and making it early on, which relates to my first reason.
They have self-doubt sneak in and start to lose confidence in themselves and trust in the process.
They will work on there business for a week or two, maybe a month. See no results and sack it off.
Because they are yet to make money, they give up.
But do all entrepreneurs or anyone who has made it out there give up because they didn’t see results straight away.
I don’t think so; otherwise, they wouldn’t be in their position.
I am trying to get it though because not enough people are willing to persist and commit.
That is why I am being transparent with you now and telling you that some people won’t succeed, mainly there fault.
They have the tools and resources at disposal, which a training platform Wealthy Affiliate offers, how they don’t do the work themselves.
So if your someone who will see themselves giving up if you don’t see any progress when you expect it, then building a business isn’t for you.
But if you are willing to persist, you will make it work.
What sucks the most is that those who abandoned their businesses early on would have seen more progress if they stuck with it a little longer.
Won’t Be Able To Invest Time
That may not be your fault on whether you don’t have the time to put into it.
Maybe you are working long hours at work, busy with life or just have another reason why you don’t.
When I started building my first online business, I was working a job, so while I did have spare time, I couldn’t work on it for the hours I wanted.
However, I did set aside at least one hour every day to make time for my business.
I sacrificed Netflix time and looked at limiting the time that I spent on the sofa procrastinating and aimed to be consistent with my work.
Now from my history and while there are more factors, of course, that consistency is a big factor in whether or not you succeed.
If you aren’t prepared to put in x amount of hours every week, ideally 5-10, I would say not to bother.
Consistency is essential, and investing time into your business for the next months is what is going to bring you results and success.
What I Like About Wealthy Affiliate
There is a lot too like about Wealthy Affiliate, and here I am going to highlight some of the areas that stand out for me.
Free Websites
As a member at Wealthy Affiliate, you will be entitled to several websites depending on your membership level.
You can get a free website for just signing up and ten websites of any kind as a premium member.
That offers great value, but when you combine it with the fact, you get fast hosting alongside at no additional cost.
In order to get decent hosting, you are looking at paying $100+ a month.
But with WA, you get it all included in one price, which is a steal.
Being Able To Talk To The Owners
Kyle and Carson have built a fantastic platform, but while that is great, something I like is how they don’t distance themselves from whats going on.
Both owners are active within the community and are offering help to owners, so while you would expect them to be busy being at the forefront of the operation, which they are, they still have time to help you out with questions and advice.
I have achieved a lot of what I have achieved thanks to the training, but I also owe a lot to my mentors and Kyle and Carson themselves for the help they have given me personally from day 1.
So if you do join, there is a private message option where you can directly message anybody, including the owners, and get the help you are looking for.
Other pieces of training will offer top-notch support; another training I recommend that I have used is from Ian, who has a FIMP course that also teaches you how to do an online business online. With the training, he has a Facebook group where he helps people directly, which is cool.

Can Be Overwhelming As A Newbie
I still remember the first day I joined, I found overwhelming and wasn’t sure where to start. As a member, you have a lot of training available that it can be hard to focus on one thing without getting distracted.
You have the support of the live chat; there are various discussions within the community on numerous topics in internet marketing. So yes, it can be quite hard at the start to focus on one task.
However, if you click on the green button and focus on just the training at first, then explore other areas of Wealthy Affiliate later on; you will be just fine.
Cost Of Wealthy Affiliate
Keeping it simple, there are two types of memberships you can get as a Wealthy Affiliate member. You have a free starter account, and you have a premium membership that comes at two price points.
You don’t have to spend money to become a WA member and to build an online business as you can sign up for the free account and not pay anything.
However, if you want to want to make the most of all that Wealthy Affiliate as to offer then upgrading is the best option.
To become a premium member, it costs $49 a month or $495 a year. The payment plan you go with depends on you. However, you get a lot more value from going as a yearly member.
The main benefit is that you get to knuckle down for one year and, for the next 12 months, can focus on training and building your business.
Along with that, you also get a saving from opting for yearly over monthly recurring with it coming in at about $1.35 a day.
Wealthy Affiliate Affiliate Program
This is another opportunity that is available for Wealthy Affiliate members. This is the affiliate program which gives you the incentive to make recurring commissions each month by promoting WA to others.
Not to be confused with MLM’s promoting Wealthy Affiliate isn’t something you are forced to promote however its something you can utilize.
Each yeah they pay out millions in commissions to there affiliates and what makes them stand out is the rates they offer.
As I just talked about earlier to be a premium member each month it is $49, if you refer someone and they go to premium you will get nearly a 50% commission.
There is a lot of affiliate programs out there however you won’t find too many that give there affiliates a big cut.
