Here to learn how to blog a teenager without money. Well, don’t worry as I have you covered.
Now here is the thing.
Some people seem to believe that to make money online with blogging, you need to fit into certain demographics.
When I first started blogging online, I had people saying to me, ‘isn’t that for stay at home mums?’
Now I was aware that blogging as its stereotypes before I got started.
However, the bottom line and what I then found out over the next few years was anyone can make money blogging.
Blogging isn’t exclusive its inclusive, so anyone can do it and make money with it. It’s as simple as that!
As long as you have an internet connection and a laptop, you are pretty much good to go.
There are a few more aspects to it, which I will go over in this post.
Obviously you aren’t going to start a blog and then in your first month make 5 figures, it won’t happen.
I have seen it happen, but chances are that it won’t for you if you are beginner, that is from my experience as well.
The great thing about blogging though is someone can easily pick it up, there isn’t much investing like with a mortar business for e.g.
The first time I started blogging, I was around 16 years old, and at the time, I was so new to the online world now because I was new to it all my first couple of sites that I created sucked.
So today and because I know what it’s like to be a teenager and actively be looking for ways to earn online, I will be talking you through how to blog as a teenager without any money.

How I Got Started Blogging As A Teen?
When I first started searching for ways to earn money, online blogging was one of the last opportunities to come my way.
I had tried freelancing, and I had even dabbled in get rich quick schemes that promised the world, but in reality, very little.
But waisting so much time and also a bit of money, I finally got to blogging.
What’s interesting, though, is that I remember being introduced to it and thinking I don’t think its for me.
Firstly English wasn’t my strong point having only scraped a pass at school and secondly the idea of writing for living bored me.
That is, of course, before I learned in full what blogging entailed.
So at this point, I would say that blogging is for anyone if you can find something you enjoy you will be happy to write about it.
It won’t be a chore, but in fact, something fun to work on.
But moving back, I didn’t make a great deal in my first year blogging. That was mainly due to not being consistent and taking it as seriously as I should off.
How To Blog As A Teenager Without Any Money?
To get started, you only need a few things which I mentioned earlier, that is a laptop, an internet connection, and a d0main.
If your new, then a domain is something you likely won’t have. However, it only comes in at about $10 a month. That will be the URL of your site and what people will go to to find your website.
When I first started, I chose a free domain that you can with WordPress and Blogger, in the long run, and what is more beneficial is for you to have your domain.
So there are the three things you will need to get off the mark and make money.
I know I said in the heading that I will be talking about how to blog without any money, but $10 is an amount that is easy to raise, and when compared to other start-up businesses is very cheap.
The other aspect you may want to invest in, and this is optional, is some training about how to blog and how to get it making money.
You do have a lot of free resources available to you online, so just by typing blogging online, you will be able to learn.
However, from the training I have used, I would recommend checking out Ian’s FIMP course and Wealthy Affiliates.
Both are free but also includes training at a cost if you want to learn everything they have to offer.
How Does Blogging Work?
Blogging works by picking a subject, interest, or hobby of your choice and writing about it on a webspace online.
What you blog about is completely your choice, which is the beauty of it.
Ideally, though, you will want to think of a website name and also a niche that you would like to build your site around.
From here, the goal is to build the traffic and gain an audience that is interested in the content that you write.
For instance, here on this site, I talk about anything to do with helping others achieve more than average, so if your reading this post and are interested in blogging as a teen, then chances are you are interested in making money and building something for yourself.
This is how making a blog works.
Now, if you still stuck on how to get started with a blog, I will go over how to get started in a minute.
Examples Of Influential Blogs Run By Teens
Out there on the internet, you will find plenty of examples of blogs set up by teens that you can take ideas from and replicate for your site.
So if you are teen and you don’t think it’s possible to start up a blog and grow it to a successful point, then check out these sites I am going to share with you now.
1. TeensGotCents
Eva was a 16-year-old when she set out to create the blog teensgotcents.com; this is a blog that gives out money advice to different audiences and not just teens.
She started it because she was frustrated at the lack of personal finance information online, so she wanted to be someone that other teens could go to for help.
Her efforts have not only been recognized in traffic and views but also awards having won national awards, including the Plutus awards.
The blog was created several years ago, and nowadays, she outsources a lot of content to other teen writers.
2. Carl Ocab
Thar is one I admire and is an excellent example of no matter how young you are that you can blog.
Carl is a 23-year-old internet marketer who started blogging at the age of 13, yes, you heard that right 13.
It isn’t for kids as young as that to start looking for avenues online for making money. However, that is what this guy did and is still the face of the site CarlOcab.com.
He was known for ranking for some of the most competitive keywords back when he was a young teen.
Now admittedly, while it wasn’t straightforward back then, being able to rank for certain terms was much easier back then compared to now.
However, that is still fantastic, and the fact he was able to achieve that at that age tells you something about him, so its no surprise that he is still killing it now, been featured on Forbes, and doing various public speaking gigs.
While Carl is special for recognizing a gap in the market and going for it, it still doesn’t make him any different than you.
If you are a teen and reading this now, then you have the potential to build a business and make money, whether that is through blogging or a different route.
3. Making Sense Of Cents
While not exactly a teen, this is a blog I wanted to chuck in there because her reasons for starting a blog and her journey are relatable to a lot of students out there. Michelle, who is the owner of MakingSenseOfCents, was someone who started at a new job after graduating from college. However, she decided to decide to seek out other ways to bring an income that was when she came across blogging. The rest is now history.
4. WayneLiew
Wayneliew.com is a blog started by 18-year-old teen Wayne, he blogs about personal development and also does advertising with a company called Mindvalley, where he is the head. This kid blogs about a lot of interesting aspects when it comes to becoming a better version of yourself. So for someone who is still in his teens, it’s safe to say he is going places.
How To Start A Teen Blog
Before you go ahead and start a teen blog, there are a few things you will need to know. So I am going to take you through the whole process step to step and as simply as possible.
1. Picking A Niche
Firstly a website niche is a site based around a certain topic and interest.
So as you may guess, your first job is to pick what this will be and what audience you would like to draw in.
Now, as a teen, you may have different interests or might not have too many.
But the important thing to do here is pick something you enjoy, passion for, and would be interested in learning more about it.
The reason why is because on your site and at the start anyway, you will be writing the content, so if you don’t enjoy what your writing, you will struggle to motivate yourself.
Luckily while I did rush into my first site because I was so eager to get started, it was something I enjoyed. It’s still up now and has over 300+ pieces of content on it.
What I recommend though is that you think, maybe get a pen and paper so you can brainstorm some ideas as there is no rush.
2. Choose A Domain
Now you have the niche you want to pursue the next task is to choose a domain; this will be the name of the site, so you will want to choose something relevant.
It doesn’t matter so much what you choose as you can always switch for another one later on if a better name pops into your head.
That is also the only thing you will need to purchase at $10, how it works, you will own the domain for one year. Once expired, you will renew for another $10, however by that time, the amount of money your making with the site should fund it.
To go and purchase the domain you can go to either WordPress, Wix or Squarespace, and the set up is also pretty easy as well. I have personally set up all my sites through WordPress as its
3. Gain Traffic
Once you have the niche and the domain brought, we move on to the crucial part of getting a blog up and running, which is the traffic.
Without traffic, you will achieve very little as its the heartbeat of the site. The good news though, is that there is an abundance of it out there and various sources you can get it through.
Whether that is through organic traffic, which is free, and one I recommend or paid traffic via ads, it is easily accessible.
4. Monetize Your Website
Now that you have the traffic, the last thing to do is to monetize it. That is how you will make money with your blog.
How you monetize it all depends on the niche you are in, as there are various ways to earn.
As an outsider who has been on websites but not understood how they make money, then a way of earning revenue that you would associate with a site is ads. Still, you can also sign up to affiliate programs and get paid for promoting their products.
Conclusion
Teens aren’t known for having lots of money, and when I started blogging, I didn’t have much to my name.
However, that is completely fine, as a young person, it is easy to below, and money and also lost not knowing what you want to do with your life.
The good thing is that you have your whole life ahead of you, and because you are still young, you don’t have too many responsibilities, so you can experiment with doing different things.
You can be a student at UNI and pursue a certain job, or you can do something like blogging, which is something I recommend for teens.
But anyway there you have it, that was my complete guide on how to blog as a teenager without any money.
