Young Living Review: Scam Or Legit MLM?

Welcome to my Young Living review.

Have you come across Young Living and become hesitant on whether or not they are what they say they are.

Well if I have learnt anything from my experience in marketing then its not to trust any MLM.

As you can probably tell Young Living is yet another one of these Multi Level Marketing schemes.

Despite most of them being bad I still check out ones that I come across in order to see if they are unlike the rest or to help you guys find out what you need to know of them.

I even tried out one a few weeks ago called Farmasi. They were legit however some aspects were questionable.

Now I am not a member of Young Livings team, so I will be giving an unbiased review and telling you just how it is.

In this post I will be talking you through all you need to know, whether you can make money, the products they sell and more.

Young Living Review Summary

  • Owner: Mary Young
  • What Are They?: MLM
  • Cost: $35
  • Verdict: Legit
  • Recommended: Not Really

What Is Young Living Essential Oils?

Let’s delve into what they are, they are a 25 year old MLM company that was founded by Gary Young.

Hence the name they sell a variety of essential oils and other types of products.

Over time the company as proven to be very successful bringing in millions in revenue each year.

Infact the company brought in just under $2 million last year to make it three years in a trot that they reached billionaire status.

So with the essential oil industry worth a whopping $5.1 billion it sure looks like that number will grow for them over the coming years.

They are one of the biggest direct marketing companies owing farms in seven countries and 12 main offices.

These include states within the US as well as South America, France and Oman.

However they are mainly based in Lehi, Utah.

So its safe to say the company as a vision of being even bigger and in 2019 it looks like they aren’t stopping there either.

Who Is Gary Young?

For someone to create a business that is still striving shows how smart and passionate the owner D. Gary Young was.

The Founder Gary Young

The Founder – Gary Young

He created the company back in 1994 however he spent years trying to set up his dream firm based on essential oils.

While he had issues even before Young Living was set up he continued to have more over the next decade.

If you didn’t know Gary ended up getting in trouble at times. Now a few things that he did do wrong consisted of:

  • He failed to meet regulations with his distillery
  • Was fined due to people nearly dying due to safety issues
  • Former employees of his created there own MLM named ‘doTERRA’s‘ and were then accused of giving secrets away. At the end of it all Gary was then fined under $2 million has a result

Now while many still give the company a bad name because of this credit as to be given to him.

He unfortunately died a few years back in 2018 however was able to pass the legacy he had started to his wife.

Her name is Mary Young and is still the woman at the top of the company.

How Do You Make Money?

Since I have gone over some of the history and about the founder lets focus more on the earning aspect.

Young Living have a compensation plan which includes different terms and payouts for becoming one of there distributor.

As you and me may know that is if you are familiar with MLM’s they can be difficult to understand at times.

I’ll cover the main things you need to know though in its simplest form:

Becoming A Member

In order to start making money with Young Living you will need to create an account to be a distributor.

This process requires you to purchase there starter kit which comes in at $45 (£39.30).

However when I wen’t to make an account I was initially shown the premium starter kits which are at a higher price point.

These range from $150 (£138.80) – $265 (£227.10), these are optional however so you don’t have to purchase them.

Young Living Ranks

The first thing to talk about is the ranks that they have and there is quite a few to know about.

There are 10 in total and it starts from Distributor which you will get by purchasing the starter kit through to Royal Crown Diamond.

This is one of the common features at MLM’s, this is because it gives you an incentive to pay and refer more.

However while you will get some nice benefits from reaching the high ranks they are tough to get too.

Infact…

Less Than 1% Of All Of There Members Reach Gold (Rank 6) or Above!

That is one of the reasons why MLM’s are hard to earn anything remotely decent with because its hard to get to those stages.

Many die trying, what I mean by that is that people will go out of pocket trying to reach the volumes to get to a better stage.

Unilevel Commision

With these commissions you will get more money from your referrals the higher your rank is.

This consists of 4 ranks, Distributor, Star, Senior Star and Executive.

You start with two downlines to begin with and you can get up to five by reaching Executive.

Fast Start Bonus

The fast start bonus is aimed to get you up and running with a 25% bonus on the orders that your referrals make. This is up to a maximum of $200 for each person.

Any referrals they go on to recruit into the company you will then get 10% on orders up to $80.

Started Kit Bonus

Next up we have the Starter Kit bonus, just like it sounds members can get a one off $25 payout when a referral chooses a premium starter kit over the free one.

There is an expiry date with this one as they must order it within there first month.

Retail Earnings

The main opportunity is through arguably through Retail Earnings and this is where Young Living have been praised.

They offer a good cut of 24% of all orders get from people you enrolled on your first.

Check out also: Up2Give Review

What Is The Young Living Essential Rewards?

Over the next two years as a essential rewards member you will receive a number of benefits and bonuses. These include free gifts and a percentage of points back to you.

  • Discounted Shipping
  • Earn Product Credit – Get points back as you purchase goods each month, effectively this is a cashback feature.
  • Free Oils – If you are member for 3,6 and 9 consecutive months you will be shipped some of these. These are Tea Tree, Peppermint and Thieves Vitality Blend.

Here’s a short video that talks briefly goes over how it works.

In order to get involved you will need to contact Young Living either online or through their phone line.

Rising Star Team Bonus Pool

Before I explain this bonus let’s talk about the Young Living Essential Rewards that you will be promoting

Members are rewarded for building legs in your downline and in return will get shares in the company.

There is a rank system in place which consist of:

  • 1 Share – Sponsor 3 people who each go on to sell $100 in essential rewards orders themselves and a combined $300 in overall group volume.
  • 2 Share – 5 people instead of 3 and required to sell $500 in overall group volume instead.
  • 3 Share – 7 people instead of 5 and required to sell $1000 in overall group volume instead.

You can also refer to the image below to understand all of the terms more.

What I Like About Them

1. Not Too Expensive To Get Started

Now I am not a fan of MLM’s however the cheap rates to get you started are okay.

You need to buy only 1 starter package, meaning you will need to only spend $40 to start distributing there products.

I’m not encouraging you to do this yourself however I have seen more expensive ones out there.

2. Oils Have There Benefits

Aside from the MLM side of things the products that Young Living are of great quality.

While they are slightly on the expensive side the oils are made organically and they stick to there word.

What I Don’t Like About Them

1. Oils Are Not Cheap

Like I mentioned above the oils themselves are great, so no questions there.

Instead the questions lie more with the prices they are charging.

While I was browsing around the site I was shocked to see the oils to be so expensive.

You are looking at around $40 for most oils, which is absurd.

I understand that they put a lot into these but the fact is most people could get these elsewhere much cheaper.

Not only are they a lot to get your hands on but you may find it tough to sell them.

As I know some people will see the prices and immediately turn there back.

2. Problematic History

As I know some people will see the prices and immediately turn there back.

Most of the controversies that Young Living as gone through was back in the past while Gary Young was in charge.

But even now they occasionally slip up which isn’t ideal.

It is hard to find a MLM program that hasn’t had issues as all aspects of the company is going to scrutinised at all times.

Over the past couple of decades they have had a number of lawsuits filed against them.

This includes chemicals in there products that they shouldn’t off.

Does Young Living Offer A Good Life Of Living?

Its safe to say Young Living is legit however as with all these opportunities there are questions on whether they are worth it.

I thing the fact is in the pudding, people who join struggle to make any money.

The average income of one of there distributors is only $500 a month.

That’s not to say you can’t make more than that, as it is possible however it isn’t an easy feat.

That is the average so I am more interested in the amount who don’t make any money.

As people will join struggle to keep up with the personal and group volume terms that they need to meet and ultimately give up.

If you wan’t my honest input then that is I don’t advise you to join Young Living.

Its simply not worth it, the business model just sucks.

Is There A Better Way To Earn Money?

The MLM business model is a been around for years and because of laws being in there favor it had meant that these companies will consist.

You know what that means, unfortunately more people losing money.

If there is any good news then that is that I have you here reading this blog and I can now show you a business model that is thriving.

It is affiliate marketing this is where a brand pays someone (often a another site) to promote there products.

Listen to this though stats for 2019 show that 81% of brands out there are utilizing this model as we speak, furthermore we can expect a huge rise in the amount of brands going into the next few years.

Now what I am going to do is help you make money online. I will help you how to create one of those sites and get paid to promote other companies products.

How does that sound to you?

If good, you can check out this link here where I will show you how it all works.

Anyway I hope you found the information you were looking for in this Young Living review.

If you have any questions then feel free to leave them below and I will answer them soon.

Talk soon,

Josh

Online Business VS University – What’s The Best Option?

Whatever you study at school and no matter what you want to do in life you are advised to go to university.

In many cases there is nothing wrong with that as after all if you want a certain job that may be your only option.

For e.g if you want to become a doctor then university will be the route for you.

However were coming to a time now where University isn’t the done thing, in fact many are considering other routes to save lots of money.

When I first considered it I actually ended finding too many reasons to not go to University. It just didn’t see it as something that would actually benefit me.

In this post I will comparing making an online business and going to university.

1. High vs Low Fees

The average amount of money a student spends on university is … which a lot to have to pay back in years to come.

However from my experience starting a business can be done from around $10 a year, as all you need is a domain.

So unless you are dead set on going to uni it may be worth reconsidering whether it’s for you.

Compared to starting an online business you will find the cost to set up much cheaper and you won’t be trapped for a few years.

What I mean by this is if you find a interest to base a business around and find maybe 6 months in you don’t have that passion anymore you can choose something else.

With university its a trickier as you are paying for every semester in advance.

2. You Have To Be Committed

Going from college or school to Uni is a big leap, for the next 3 to 4 years you will learning about the job you want after you have finished.

I have spoken to many people who have finished Uni and the mentality that have before they start compared to after shifts.

With the amount of time you invest some have lost interest on there course, found new interests but only once there halfway through.

The point is what every you choose you have to be committed otherwise its a waste of money.

This is why I don’t think going to uni is for everyone because not all teens know exactly what they want to do.

When I was in college which was 16-18 I took a sports diploma course, I loved sport still do but through those two years it felt like I was getting by.

I never had an interest in a sporting role like a physio or sports coach it just wasn’t for me.

So while I did in the end apply for Uni I never had an intention of going, I didn’t want to take sport further so I looked at other routes.

3. Get The Upper Hand

You have other alternatives to Uni not just building a business.

You can go on a gap year which can be good for finding yourself and what you enjoy.

Going straight into work is a viable option whether it is through a apprenticeship.

This not only gets you experience before uni students finish there degree, but it gives you the upper hand.

So by the time these students have got there degree you could have multiple years of experience under your belt.

That’s why I do view Uni as almost a pause period.

Yes, you are learning but you are stuck in a classroom like you have been accustomed to.

Thats why its so easy for people to go straight to university has its staying in the comfort zone.

But you are not getting the experience, you may be required to do work experience hours along the way but its not the same.

I have actually spoken to business owners who have told me first hand that if given the choice they know who is better suited.

They look at those who already have the experience first.

So lets say they have the choice between someone who has 3 years experience behind them and a student fresh out of uni they would pick the one with 3 years.

This is because for those coming out they are having to play catch up and be taught from the start.

So it just tends to be easier to employ someone who has knowhow on that role already.

Thats why its so easy for people to go straight to university it just seems like the next step.

Self Employment is my favourite option as you can start building your future straightaway.

4. Learn How To Actually Build A Business

When I look back at the 13 years I spent in education I was never really taught about job roles.

In fact until college did it really hit me that the course I was doing I had no interest in sport jobs.

The point is I was never shown about building any type of business, whether online or offline.

I almost stumbled across it without even knowing, at around 12 I was going to my local shop and buying drinks and confectionery at a discount and selling it for a profit to my piers.

People hated it especially the teachers and kids would take the mickey out of me.

But looking back I smile because even at a early age I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

Not exactly selling to people but the idea of being in charge.

So when I came across the idea of making websites around 16 I enjoyed the process of building a brand.

Since starting this journey I have learn’t alot about business and not needed to spend the kind of money as a uni student to get that.

Of course to do that I have used training platforms but I even with the one I am with now called Wealthy Affiliate I’m not paying more than $50 a month.

That’s a steal in my opinion.

So if I can not only make something around a passion of mine that will bring in a passive income for years to come, its a no brainer for me.

5. No Guarantees

No matter what employed job you do whether that is before, during or after uni you will be working for a fixed salary.

I have heard from students who have gone and got there dream job paying maybe $40,000 a year.

All dandy.

However not everyone gets the job there looking for straightaway. I know a few older friends who went to Uni and didn’t get any work for a year or two.

In the end they ended up working in a job that had nothing to do with there degree.

Not only are they not putting it to use, but for people in this situtaion they now have to start repaying there student loan.

It sucks.

The same can be applied to an online business as results aren’t guaranteed. You can work hard and still struggle to get it off the mark.

For the first year I made my first ever business I made nothing but around going into the second year it picked off. It probably wouldn’t off if I hadn’t of stayed consistent though.

But the point here is that again it is very easy to follow the Uni path.

But just because you have a degree to your name won’t equate in job within that field straightaway.

6. Freedom

The last point I would like to talk about is freedom and I would like to compare the two.

Full-Time Jobs After University:

  • Employed by someone – They are in charge of you and tell you what to do
  • Fixed Rate Salary – Can be improved with promotions over time
  • Limited Vacation Time – This depends on your role but most jobs will give you an allotted time to go away. You will typically need to put a request in to get certain dates off.

Self Employed:

  • Work For Yourself – You decide how you run things,
  • Unlimited Salary – No caps on how much you can make, the sky is the limit
  • Go Away When Ever You Like – Since you are working to your own schedule means you can go away whenever you like

What Do I Choose?

In this post I have gone through why I believe doing an online business is something that would be much more beneficial then having lots of debt for years to come.

Obviously everyone’s situation is different and you have only own prerogatives.

So if you want to go University by all means do it, maybe you will find its for you and you enjoy that routine.

However I advise you to not go for the sake of it, maybe because your friends are going or even because your parents think its the best thing for you.

You need to decide where your passions lie and don’t think too much about the future and take each day as it comes.

I knew I wanted to do something around entrepreneurship for as long as I remember, so working for myself was the main goal.

The idea of being in control of myself and not having an employer saying how much I make and how much I work was the deciding factor for me.

That is when I started working on websites and building various passive income streams.

Hopefully this University vs Online business post as opened up a door to thinking about a new path that may work for you.

Farmasi Cosmetic Review – Brand New Lucrative MLM?

Have you come across Farmasi and wondered whether or not the opportunities they offer are legit. On top of being just a well-known company that sells cosmetic products.

They also offer an incentive program for people to make money selling their goods to others.Well, today in this post I’m going to go through what you need to know about Farmasi.

Farmasi Cosmetic Review Summary

  • Founded By: Dr. C. Tuna
  • What Are They?: MLM
  • Cost: $19.99+
  • Verdict: Legit
  • Recommended: No

What Is Farmasi Cosmetic?

Farmasi is known around the world for selling over 2000 different cosmetic products. They are mainly based in Turkey, Europe; this is where they manufacture all their products. They have branched out to more countries, including the USA in the past year. They are a company that operates on both direct selling and the manufacturing side also.As you can tell, there has been a lot of attention on the selling side which is what I will be discussing today. They claim to offer opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs to make money through selling their products. They were founded by a man called Dr C. Tuna, who recently passed away in 2017.

How Can You Get Started?

In order to become apart of Farmasi you need to opt into being a ‘Beauty Influencer’.

This basically means that you will become someone that promotes there products and sells them.

I do understand though that influencers are mostly referred as those on Instagram with millions of followers.

Which is why the the two words put together do seem quite strange in this instance.

Anyway being one of these will entitle you to have your own site, be a part of there compensation plan (I’ll explain later), discounts and your own business.

After you have chosen this option you will need to go through with the sign up process.

If you have tried a MLM in the past you will already be familiar with the fact you need to buy in order to make.

That goes for most business opportunities out there but in these cases the chances of getting your investment back.

There are 5 products in total. Of these you will need to choose the ones you would like to purchase and sell.

You will need to purchase one of the two starter packs, these come in either English or Spanish and both cost $19.99.

Additionally, you can opt to buy any of the three other packages they have. These are made up of a variety of different products. There is:

  • Farmasi USA Product Pack – $49 ( Products worth $149)
  • Farmasi USA Product Pack 2 – $125 ( Products worth $340)
  • Farmasi USA Product Pack – $200 ( Products worth $500)

As you can see if you pick all of the options then you will be spending a few hundred dollars as a initial investment.

What is included in this purchase is a 50% cut that you will make from everything you sell.

You will also get that percentage of all the products you buy as well. Similar to Avon you will also receive a book with products in, website and a guide.

Farmasi Compensation Plan

Farmasi have a whole page on there site where they state all the details of there compensation plan and how it works.

To be honest though there are a number of bonuses and perks which are endless. There are also so many terms you need to follow.

I am going to quickly summarise the parts that you may want to know to save you reading through it all.

Team Building Programme

As it suggests welcome programme is for new members who are given an extra incentive to sell products in their first few months. If you manage to get 200 PV points in each of the first four months you will get free products sent to you.

Founders Club

Next up we have the founders club and in order to qualify for this you will need to be among the first 100 entrepreneurs to reach a bonus level of 25%.This whole opportunity is fairly new within the MLM industry so I am unsure on whether the spots have been filled. Some of the advantages of this is being able to visit their factory in Turkey with everything being paid for.The other notable perks are free shipping, free monthly samples, free website exposure and leads.

Team Building Programme

If you can recruit free or more members you will be able to join the team building programme.

Here you will get $40 per referral, however each of these has to sell least $250 worth of products.

The other ways to earn consist of personal bonuses, group bonuses, car allowances, leadership bonuses, title change bonuses, cash bonuses, bonus titles and finally there is Farmasi World Discovery Program.

if you would like to learn if more about the bonuses as they are pretty complicated to understand then check out this link to their full opportunity plan.

What I Am A Fan Of At Farmasi

1. No Monthly Fees

a feature of the majority of MLM’s is that you will need to pay some kind of fee in order to stay enrolled on the service and to reap rewards. Now not saying that pharmacy is your best opportunity in getting involved in direct marketing.

However it is refreshing to see that once you have paid the first fee there are no more upsells.

2. Well Known Company

MLM’s pop up all over the place most of which are newly formed companies.

With Farmasi they have 65 years of experience and have customers all over the world. This doesn’t mean necessary that there any good or that it makes them special from other MLM’s.

It’s good to see that they at least are established and are credible.

Why I’m Not A Fan Of Farmasi

1. Your Own Business Doesn’t Exist Here

Owning your own company isn’t working for another firm and selling your own products.

Having your own business means being in control of how much you earn, your own terms and independence.

However none of this can be offered by Farmasi or any MLM for that matter.

In there opportunity plan they even say that the average amount someone can make a year is between $500-$2000 a year.

As you see from in the image it saids ‘likely less’ which is one of the most honest representations of the opportunity you will see on the site.

The issue though is that the whole scheme is over hyped .

Just reading down the plan you can see how they are trying there best to real you in.

Earning less than $2000 and yes a lot mess is the sad reality of 99.9% of MLMs.

I’m just glad that they have included this here, as many wouldn’t

Is Farmasi A Pyramid Scheme?

Farmasi is not a pyramid scheme however it is very close to being one.

Its always hard to distinguish whether or not a program is at MLM or just another scam.

But because Farmasi do focus on selling products they are technically not.

Despite me saying that I still wouldn’t recommend Farmasi if you’re goal is to work for yourself and not be on the receiving end of your up line.

A Better Business Model To MLM?

As you can see from this review Farmasi aren’t great and if you are to make any money then you are going to need to work very hard to make that happen.

This is because it all depends on the amount of people you can recruit, that is the reason why so many people struggle as this is hard to do.

MOM’s are designed for one reason and that is to help the people at the top make money from those at the bottom.

Just one of the reasons why I don’t favour them over other business opportunities.I have dabbled in MLM before when I was looking for ways to money online and I very quickly decided not to pursue it.That is when I bumped into a new opportunity that was made for me and it’s called affiliate marketing.

This type of marketing doesn’t involve you needing to buy companies products or needing to recruit people just to make money.
